Healing green mung bean soup is one of the wonderfully simple healing dishes for your wellness and immunity.
When we are in need of nurturing and healing, green mung bean soup is renowned for its nourishing and detoxifying effects. In classical panchakarma or rejuvenating therapy mung bean kicchdi is an important part.
According to ayurvedic principles Mung beans helps to balance all three doshas. It helps and continues to help clear away ama, which is accumulated toxins in the body. Its the very seat of disease, the toxins that gets lodged in the body over a period of time due to many reasons. These reasons can be improper diet and regimen, atmospheric pollution, changes in weather or even unknown causative factors.
Here are the simple ingredients -
1 cup whole green mung beans, easiest to soak in water overnight.
3 cups water
1 tablespoon of Ghee
a piece of ginger size of your thumb
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp Turmeric
1 small pinch of asafoetida (hing).
Salt to taste
Directions
Soak the mung beans overnight in water.
Grate or chop the ginger.
Drain the mung beans, rinse them throughly in a pressure cooker.
Heat ghee in a shallow pan. Add all spices including chopped ginger and let the mustard seeds pop, cook for a few mins until the spices are fragrant. Add the cooked mung beans and stir well. Serve warm.
