Why Should You Choose Greek Yogurt?
On a Sunday morning, you wouldn’t particularly care about what kind of milk you drink, where your fruits are sourced from, or where the wheat in your bread was grown. The same thing goes for yogurt. On any normal day, most people wouldn’t worry about the yogurt they have, what kind of yogurt it is, or the healthy qualities. But what if it really does matter?
Greek yogurt, depending on the brand, may not seem very different than your average, run of the mill, plain yogurt. Here are some reasons why you should indulge in greek yogurt for a better-than-average lifestyle:
Even though greek yogurt may not seem all that different from plain old regular yogurt, it is actually created much differently (definitely in a good way). For example, the process is done differently to ensure a more healthy is sugar-free kind of yogurt. This process is called straining where the “whey” of the yogurt is removed along with the natural sugars. With greek yogurt, you also get a rich and creamy consistency from the straining process.
Next, greek yogurt is full of protein to get you through the day. It is scientifically proven that after eating high protein foods, your appetite decreases, and you are able to stay full for a longer period of time, reducing hunger. This keeps you healthy to not eat too much and helps you indulge in more protein for the day.
Additionally, having a more protein-filled diet can help to strengthen your muscles and stay healthy. Researchers have found that people who ate greek yogurt had more energy for the day and became healthier gradually over time than the ones who had not. Having this kind of protein in your diet can also help to decrease stress or anxiety as it gives you energy and connects through your stomach, gut, and brain to relax and calm your nerves.
Of course, we already know now that Greek yogurt is healthier than the normal plain yogurts but did you know that greek yogurt can play an immense role in decreasing the chance of getting diseases such as high blood pressure or diabetes, heart disease, and more?
Even though Greek yogurt may not be something you normally indulge in, it is easy to incorporate into meals and add to foods for a richer meal and lifestyle.
Next time you are buying yogurt, remember the enhancing properties of greek yogurt and take some time to add it into your meals to get starters on your not-so-average lifestyle :)
