Exfoliating and healing beyond the skin

We all love that feeling when we can leave behind the excess load we walk around with emotionally and mentally. Work, home, friends, partners all contribute their share to this ‘load’ that most of us as empaths can sense and end up holding on to within our own energy.

I find it important to discuss this aspect with most clients that admit to being empaths, as this quality although making us compassionate can cause more stress to our wellbeing and our skin. Skin being the largest organ of the body can sense these emotions releasing the stress hormone cortisol locally in the dermal tissue. This local release of the stress hormone then leads to the process of tissue breakdown, faster aging and slower cell turnover.

Chemical peels and exfoliating with products/facials is definitely recommended to pacify many of these signs of aging like dullness, poor tone, skin laxity, pigmentation and aging. They work by chemically exfoliating the top most layer of the skin- Stratum corneum.

In addition to helping our skin exfoliate, I see the importance release the emotions and stress mentally as well. This is where the process of a “holistic skin care” becomes the main theme. Just mere exfoliation of the organ that is affected doesn’t take care of the root cause. The healing of the emotional and mental body has been described in the ancient practices of Yoga, and meditation as well as Energy healing.

Our combined and integrative approach with peels is to help the mind , body and skin be able to exfoliate the excess “ earth element” that has accumulated within the body. What we call our Chemical Peels with Auric Healing. Breathing, relaxation and stimulating our own bliss network (endocannabinoid system) must be a part of the exfoliation process.

At home treatments and skin maintenance can be even more effective when we keep a balance of also targeting our mental body and emotional body by having a routine of mindfulness, yoga and meditation.
