Transitioning from Summer to Fall through the Cosmos and Mind Body Skin
What do you love the most about Fall? The change of season can be refreshing and vibrant, and welcome change for us all. The smell of pumpkins, cinnamon, and cool misty fall breeze and pine stimulate the senses and allows for the energy to usher in the change.
It has always been about a change. Transformation, peaking also when the sun transits through the zodiac signs of Virgo, Libra and Scorpio.
Change is a part of life, often times we resist change only to later understand how important it has been. Virgo is earth energy, here we focus more on our 3 D, home space, office space our surroundings, it will be more about cleaning out and changing the surroundings in the house or office. It being also a more feminine energy we notice activities like nurturing the house, or family related themes like back back to school time for kids etc. preoccupy our world. It is all about making changes in the home from.
As the sun moves through Libra constellation, there is more focus on adjusting and creating balance within the individual, we seek to normalize our new routine at home and at work to balance the change. The mind preoccupied in discovering what works best to create that balance.
During the Scorpio which is all about transformation, death and rebirth, it here where we finally embrace the season, making it the new normal, in our dressing style, cooking, daily routines, we have welcomed the change mentally and physically.
With our body, the transition of the change brings in more Vata energy (Air element) this Air can lead to some sense anxiety related to the change for Vata predominant individuals, but the same time, this where balancing the Air element becomes a wonderful activity in the mind body space.
Taking a on a routine like Pranayama, helps in balancing the Vata element. Adding a routine of breathing exercises will help create balance in the mind body as the body shifts from the Pitta of Summer to Vata of the fall and cooler temperatures.
The Vata also affects the skin where we notice more dryness, and we tend see more dryer allergic expressions in the skin due to seasonal allergies. This is a good time to stay hydrated and use moisturizer like Aloe, Coconut and Rosehip oil for your skin.
With your diet, vata balancing diets can help ease the transition for mind body and skin. Seasonal soups like pumpkin, squash and zucchini are great, at the same time, to minimize coffee or caffeine related beverages will also help pacify the excessive Vata element.
