Recipes with Beets

Dealing with Vata Dosha, Here are two fabulous Beet root recipes.

Beetroot Salad for Vata 

Ingredients – 

Raw beetroot sliced – 2 (Pitta persons can use cooked beets) 

Raisins – 2 tbsp. 

Sliced figs – 2 tbsp. 

Mint leaves – few chopped 

Lemon Juice – 2 tbsp. 

Salt to taste 

Method of preparation – 

In a Vessel, mix all the ingredients together and serve immediately. 


  1. Beetroot stir fry 


Ingredients - 

1 Beet root, grated 

Coconut oil – 1 tsp. 

Mustard seeds – 1 tsp. 

Curry leaves – few

Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp. 

Salt to taste 

Cumin seed – ½ tsp. 

Garlic – 1 pod 

Green chili – 2 

Grated coconut – 2 tbsp. 

Method of preparation – 

In a blender, blend coarse coconut, turmeric, cumin seeds, green chili and salt. Add coconut oil in a pan, and splutter mustard seeds and curry leaves when hot. Add the grated beetroot and sauté well. Add ½ cup and cook beetroot till tender. Now add the coconut blend and mix well. Serve warm with rice or flat bread.
