More Reasons to eat Pineapple

Pineapple (Ananas comosus) is a tropical fruit that is highly relished for its unique aroma and sweet taste. Pineapple is also a rich source of minerals and vitamins that offer a number of health benefits. Ranked third behind banana and citrus, the demand for pineapple has greatly increased within the international market. 


Let's look at some health benefits of Pineapple -


  • Pineapples are especially rich in vitamin C and manganese, as well as numerous other vitamins and minerals. They are also a rich source of antioxidants that may reduce your risk of ailments such as heart disease, diabetes, and certain cancers.

  • Pineapples contain bromelain, a group of digestive enzymes that may help break down protein and aid digestion. A wide range of therapeutic benefits have been claimed for bromelain, such as reversible inhibition of platelet aggregation, sinusitis, surgical traumas , thrombophlebitis, pyelonephriti angina pectoris, bronchitis and enhanced absorption of drugs. Bromelain is widely administered for its well-recognized properties, such as its anti-inflammatory, antithrombotic and fibrinolytic effects, anticancer activity and immunomodulatory effects, in addition to being a wound healing and circulatory improvement agent.


Pineapples can easily be included in your diet. For Breakfast, pineapple can be made to a quick smoothies. 


Pineapple Breakfast Smoothie 


You will need -


  • 1 1/2 cups pineapple juice

  • 1 banana cut in half

  • 1 1/2 cups frozen pineapple chunks

  • 3/4 cup vanilla Greek yogurt

  • fresh pineapple wedges and mint sprigs for garnish


Smoothies are extremely easy to make, and this one is no exception. It’s important to use frozen pineapple to get that perfect smoothie texture. Combine your frozen pineapple, banana, pineapple juice, and Greek yogurt in a blender and blend until smooth.

For lunch you could make a quick pineapple almond salad. 


Pineapple Almond Salad for Lunch 


You will need - 

pineapple chunks 

thinly-sliced red onions 

diced cucumber 

red & green bell pepper

Sliced Almonds


For dressing - lime juice, olive oil, pineapple juice,  honey, red pepper flakes, white vinegar, and salt and pepper.


Add lime juice, olive oil, honey, red pepper flakes, white vinegar, salt, and pepper to a small bowl. Vigorously whisk for all the ingredients to blend together. In a large mixing bowl, add the vegetables, almonds and pineapple chunks. Pour dressing over the pineapple salad and toss until every inch of the pineapple blend is covered with the spicy vinaigrette.

Like most fruits, a ripe pineapple is sweet and juicy. But unripe fruit will deliver bland, dry or sour flavor. According to Ayurvedic principles, Pineapple pacifies Vata and increases Kapha in the body. It is said to be ideal to use in case of anorexia or tastelessness, fever, dysmenorrhea etc.
