According to Ayurvedic principles, From the time of fertilization itself, prakrti (constitution of individual) is determined by the dosas (functional units of the body) located in Sukla (sperm) and artava (ovum), just as venom of poisonous organism is harmless to it. The three dosas influence sukla and artava at the time of fertilization providing three constitutions of single dosa predominance. These are Vatadosa Prakrti [of hina quality: not re. vered], Pittadosa Prakrti [of madhyama quality: middle range] and Kaphadosa Prakrti [of uttama quality: superior]. However, among all constitutions, Prakrti carry. ing the trait of all the three dosas [Samadosa Prakrti] is considered the best and constitutions with two dosas together are abhorred.
