Apple Cider Vinegar Home Remedies

Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is an ancient vinegar formulation prepared with the process of fermentation of apple juice or crushed apples. It is generally sour in taste and pale or amber in color. Apple cider vinegar (ACV) has been used for centuries as a health boosting tonic.

Apple cider vinegar is generally light for digestion and astringent (Kashaya Rasa). It strongly increases the flow of bile and hence can be related to increased Pitta properties. It has pitta pacifying properties on the blood.

Using ACV for Home Remedies -

1. Natural Hair Care

Take an old shampoo bottle and fill it with 1 tablespoon of organic apple cider vinegar and 1 cup of water. Pour this on your hair after shampooing. Do this three times per week for best results.

2. Sunburn

To ease sunburned skin, put 1 cup of apple cider vinegar in a lukewarm bath, along with ¼ cup of coconut oil and 2 drops lavender essential oil.

3. Body Odor

Simply dabbing some apple cider vinegar on your fingers and running it into your armpit can kill yeast and neutralize odors, keeping you smelling fresh all day.

4. Warts

Put apple cider vinegar topically on the wart and then cover with a bandage. Leave on overnight and remove in the morning. Doing this for one week will help reduce warts.

How To Make Homemade Apple Cider Vinegar

You will need:

10 organic apples
2 large, wide-mouthed glass jars
water, enough to cover
cheesecloth

Directions

Take 10 organically grown apples and wash them thoroughly. Cut each apple into four pieces. Store the apples at room temperature until they turn brown.

Once brown, put all the apples into a large, wide-mouthed glass jar. Cover the apples with water and then cover the jar with cheesecloth. Do not cover so tightly as you want to allow oxygen and airflow to enter. Place the covered jar in a dark and warm place and let sit for six or seven months. Stir once weekly.

After six months, you will see a layer of scum on the water. This forms from bacteria as alcohol turns to vinegar. Filter the liquid through the cheesecloth into a second wide large glass jar. Cover the second jar of liquid again with the same cheesecloth. Allow it to sit in a warm place for another five to six weeks. The liquid will become your apple cider vinegar. Now, transfer it into your desired storage containers and refrigerate.

Though the procedure looks long, making ACV at home is really inexpensive. Also the health benefits will be greater than those obtained through the store bought ones.
